Alain Désilets is a researcher at the National Research Council of Canada, developing industrial strength proof-of-concept applications of Human Language Technologies (e.g. Machine Translation, Speech Recognition). He has 20 years experience developing software in research environments presenting large amounts of technical risk and uncertainty as to the actual needs of end users and customers. He has been practicing XP since 2002, and since 2004, has been complementing it with practices from human-computer interaction (User Centered Design, Contextual Inquiry, Interaction Design). Alain is a strong advocate for Agile and has been invited to give several talks on this topic in the Ottawa-Montreal areas.
