My recent interests have been in bringing Agile development to the companies I work in. I’ve been fortunate to do this for reasonable project periods (up to 3 years in one case) and in a truly distributed environment. This has been a good way to truly understand the effects of the changes and more importantly learn from them - what’s really important and what’s not. I’m currently in a new company that is growing fast and struggling to cope with the pace of change. Helping them go Agile is one of my goals. Going Agile in a distributed project has been interesting as it has strained all aspects of the methodology used, encouraging a steep learning curve.
Of course I didn’t always know what Agile development was and in my early years tried a number of things to bring visibility and understanding to the projects I’ve been involved with. This has helped me greatly appreciate some of the good things that Agile development instills, and made me appreciate all the more the Agile Value System.
