Tim is an agile instructor and coach for Valtech Technologies who develops and delivers their agile course curriculum. Tim came to Agile coaching after a long career delivering software according to the iterative methodology of the day, basically once a quarter for the past 20 years. While developing course material for the estimation and planning course that Valtech offers Tim developed The Scrum Accelerator, an instructional simulation game which uses a timer to simulate an iteration and dice and cards to simulate activity including various scope creep and progress made scenarios as stories and tasks move through the sprint. Teams will maintain artifacts of the sprint such as the daily burn down and release burn down bar charts. This is a good tool for instructors as the students seem to enjoy the game while really working out the kinks in story points, task hours, split stories, etc.
Tim has developed and regularly delivers a course in executable requirements, using story test driven development and FitNesse and coaches teams to implementing it successfully. One major customer recently has this to say about the course. “Implementing FitNesse and evolving towards Test-Driven Development has continued to be a watershed event for our data warehouse/B.I. project one of those rare things that moves the project and product to a new level. Easily the most important step we took in 2007.”
