As the VP of Product Development at Interface Systems, Rich initiated and sponsored a dramatic process and cultural change by adopting radical co-location and extreme programming practices for his software development teams. These changes eventually led to an expansion of his software team from 14 to 36 developers. The increased capability of this expanded team tightly focused by close collaboration with business, ultimately transformed the broader organization.
Having experienced the business capabilities created by an organization steeped in Agile Culture, Rich founded a small software design and development firm that uses agile practices to build innovative software products as a service for other organizations. This company, Menlo Innovations, now has eight years of experience in Agile methods and helping other organizations adopt these same practices.
Rich is routinely invited to speak with business leaders about Menlo’s processes and how Agile practices can positively affect business outcomes. He has also been a guest speaker at the University of Michigan Executive Business School and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
